Look of the Day- As Sweet As Sugar

Look of the Day

1) Cross Body Bag with Chunky Lock available at ASOS- $21.78
2) Nutcracker Dress available at Shabby Apple- $92
3) Georgie Cuff available at DANNIJO- $445
4) Cecilie Pump available at Banana Republic- $128
5) My Heart Skipped Tights available at ModCloth- $17.99

On a day like today, looking at an outfit like this puts a smile on my face. I've been in my pajamas all day long, with one of the worst colds ever. What I would give to dress up super girlie right now...but alas, the only pink I'm wearing is my pink fuzzy robe. *sigh*

*Snapshot Fashion on Instagram*

Well it is official. Christmas week is here! Tonight I'm celebrating with my husband and dog, then tomorrow we are heading out to Long Island for two Christmas Eve celebrations, and then on Wednesday we're heading back to Brooklyn and my parents will be stopping over (which reminds me, I need to clean!). It's going to be a fun and busy next few days.

I know I'll be updating my Instagram over the next few days...so please, feel free to follow along!

Here are some highlights from the last week or so...

I just posted 5 years worth of mall Santa photos from my childhood (1984-1988).

From the streets of Williamsburg.

My new favorite treat. I like to sprinkle a handful of this over some nonfat plain Greek yogurt. Makes an amazing breakfast.

Love this old photo of my Grandma enjoying the holidays.

Rocko just got a haircut a few days ago. Took this shot when we got home from the groomer. He was sporting a new holiday scarf. Adorable!

What are your holiday plans??? Heading out of town? Going to any parties?

P.S. If you have an Instagram account that I'm not following yet, LET ME KNOW! I'd love to follow along!!!

Look of the Day- Hypnotic Holiday

Look of the Day

1) SoHo Color Tote available at Amrita Singh- $120
2) Pop Boutique Swing Dress with Lace Collar and Cuff available at ASOS- $54.45 $27.22
3) Avanna Heel available at Free People- $218
4) Tights for Every Occasion in Fuchsia available at ModCloth- $14.99

Nothing in the world makes me happier than legwear...especially colorful tights. Love! I always feel like the perfect pair of tights jazzes up any outfit. Probably why I own 30-40 pair of tights. I know, I know...ridiculous. I really need to sort through them and purge a few. I used to be obsessed with shoes, then it was coats, and now I just can't get enough of legwear. I hope Santa brings me a few more pair this year. Please Santa...I've been good all year long.

Getting In The Brooklyn Groove

I have a few vacation days to use up at work, so I'm enjoying some time off. Such a great time to have a week off of work...the weather is so lovely here in Brooklyn! The snow is practically all melted, and it was even warm enough that I could wear my favorite fall coat.

coat- H&M
dress- H&M
cardigan- Joe Fresh
purse- Nila Anthony via Spotted Moth
tights- ?
booties- Urban Outfitters
bracelet- gift

We are finally starting to settle in to our new apartment and neighborhood. Boxes are almost all unpacked. I never in a million years would have thought that we would love Williamsburg as much as we do. I'm so happy we moved here, and even happier that we signed a two year lease. HOORAY BROOKLYN!

It's so crazy that Christmas is in a few days! I have practically all of my shopping done. Thanks goodness! Just have a few more small items to buy.

How are you all managing your holiday shopping?

Look of the Day- Christmas Cutie

Look of the Day
1) 18K Pave Spike Bracelet available at T+J Designs- $68
2) Tisha Dress available at BB Dakota- $55
3) Go For It Black Clutch by Urban Expressions available at LuLu's- $43
4) Scallop Faux Thigh-High Tight available at Urban Outfitters- $14
5) River Island Finlay 2 T Bar Court Shoes available at ASOS- $99.82

Wearing a simple black dress is such a practical option for upcoming holiday parties...but why not opt for a little red dress? Black is so predictable, safe, and boring. Wearing red will get you noticed and you'll look more "Christmasy" while doing so! So start spreading that holiday cheer...one red dress at a time.

What do you plan to wear to your upcoming holiday parties???

Time To Party...On A Budget

If you are like me, you have a bunch of holiday parties right around the corner. My first thought when I get an invite to a holiday party is, what in the world am I going to wear? I mean, I have countless party dresses in my closet...but sometimes a girl wants something new. But knowing that I have a ton of Christmas shopping left to do, I really don't have the budget for it. No worries though...I found some amazing dresses for cheap. Nobody will know the difference!

Chiffon Dress available at H&M- $34.95

Dancing Queen Fringe Dress available at Forever 21- $27.80

Satin Dress available at Joe Fresh- $39

Pins And Needles Long-Sleeve Cold Shoulder Dress available at Urban Outfitters- $69

So I want to know what you're planning on doing for your upcoming holiday parties. Will you be searching for a deal on a cheap frock, wearing an old favorite you have hanging in your closet, or splurging on a new party dress (you deserve it since you were good all year long!).

Look of the Day- Burgundy Babe

Look of the Day

1) Set of 3 Bangle Set available at Alex and Ani- $38
2) Fond Voyage Dress by Myrtlewood available at ModCloth- $94.99
3) Heattech Blocked Stripe Knitted Tights available at Uniqlo- $19.90
4) Bait Velma T-Strap Heel available at Urban Outfitters- $72
5) Hughes Satchel available at J. Crew- $298

I hope everyone is having a great start to their weekend. This week has been insane for me. After moving last weekend I just feel like I haven't had time to really unpack all week. We're still waiting for furniture we ordered to be delivered, as well as more of our items that we have in storage to be dropped off. So this place is a total mess because I don't know where to go with everything. Argh! Hopefully in a few weeks we'll have everything in it's proper spot. Until then...

Cyber Monday (or Sunday?)

Black Friday isn't such a big deal anymore. I mean, not when you have Cyber Monday (which I love. No lines to deal with!) and now Grey Thursday (which I find ridiculous. If you need to save a few bucks on a holiday that you should be spending with family and friends then you probably shouldn't be spending your money on that item! Right?).

I was going to put up a post to let you all know about some amazing Cyber Monday deals to take advantage of tomorrow, but guess what? They are starting Cyber Monday today...on SUNDAY! So go and shop your heart out. I personally think that Cyber Monday should be on Sunday. I can't be on the computer at work shopping all day and would love to take advantage of the deals on the weekend.

Here are my favorite deals going on NOW...check them out:

~Save 50% on everything at LOFT. Use the code CYBER50 at checkout.

~Stop by The Limited and get 50% off of full price items, plus free shipping when you use the code JINGLE.

~Get 40% off of your entire purchase, plus free shipping on purchases over $50 at H&M. Use the code 7376 at checkout. Also, take an extra 25% off of all sale items.

~Save online and in the store- save 30% at Old Navy40% off at Gap and Banana Republic. Also, save 30% sitewide at Piperlime. Use the promo code CYBER at checkout.

Blogging in Brooklyn

Hello everyone! It has been way too long. And let me start out by a sincere apology to all of my regular readers. Not to make excuses to a lack of posts (don't you just hate when people do that?), but 1) our computer died and we had to get a new one. I would have posted via the Blogger app...but the app is absolutely terrible, and 2) we moved! Yesterday we moved from the Upper East Side to Williamsburg in Brooklyn. And can I just say that I'm loving it! I have been packing like a maniac over the last week or two. My husband and I have both moved a lot, but this was the first time we had movers moving us. It was the best decision we have ever made. I'd recommend Get There Moving to anyone! Two guys showed up at our UES apartment at 8am, packed up their truck and unloaded everything into our Brooklyn apartment by 10:10am! Just over two hours. They were amazing.

Enjoying the view from our living room window.

I'm in love with this water tower. So very Brooklyn.

Thanks so much for sticking with me and for all the kind messages I received via Twitter and Instagram. I'm back and better than ever. So get ready for a ton of new posts coming your way.

P.S. I know there are a ton of Brooklyn fashion/shopping/lifestyle bloggers out there. If you have a blog and are in the area, let me know! I'd love to check it out.

Model Monday

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all are having a great start to your week. I thought I'd jazz up your week a little by bringing back one of your favorite segments, Model Monday!

Today we're focusing on a young French model that is taking over the runways, ad campaigns, and the pages of your favorite fashion magazines. She is simply stunning. Let me introduce you to Anais Mali.

Behind the Scenes: Mary-Kate and Ashley

I have to admit, I'm slightly obsessed with the Olsen twins. Their mega-success, sense of style, and fashion empire has inspired me for quite some time. Such a long way from, "you got it dude." At the young age of 27, I can only imagine where their success will bring them in the years to come.

Check out some photos from their recent photoshoot with Allure Magazine, as well as some shots from behind the scenes.

Which Dior Look Is Your Favorite?

It makes me so happy to see Natalie Portman out promoting a new movie. It feels like ages since she's been on the scene. Understandable, since she took some time off after having her son in 2012. I'm a huge fan of her acting, but even more of her style. It's no surprise that she'll be wearing Christian Dior while out promoting her movies and going to events, since she is a spokesperson...but I am always so delighted with the pieces she chooses.

Here are three looks that Natalie has fashioned over the last week. She is just stunning! Don't you agree?

Personally, I think the slim pants and strapless top is my favorite look. It's different and fun...and her hair and makeup are looking amazing! I do with the top was a little more shapely, but I do really love the colors and pattern.

Which Christian Dior look would you love in your closet???

Look of the Day- Saturday Night Done Right

Look of the Day

1) Dapple of My Eye Tights available at ModCloth- $15.99
2) Lightening Print Mini Dress available at ASOS- $115.69

Could I be more obsessed with this dress? So full of fun and flash (literally)...it is beyond perfect for a night out on the town. Don't you agree?

Right now I'm trying to figure out my plans for tonight will be. My husband wants to go out for dinner...but I'm getting over being sick (this is my second cold in three weeks...ugh!). Is it bad that I just want to stay inside and do nothing? Maybe I'll change my mind until then. Who knows!

What are your plans for your Saturday evening?

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I spent the majority of it on the road. My husband, dog, and I rented a zipcar and took a quick road trip to Pennsylvania where I got to see my nephew for his third birthday. Boy is he growing up so quickly! Where does the time go?!?! Thank heavens for turning the clocks back though. I really needed that extra hour today. We had to travel back to NYC, deal with detours/crowds from the marathon, had the best burger, fries, and beer that I have had in years, and saw our new apartment for the second time. SO BUSY! And now it is 8:30pm and I think I'm going to go to bed. Have a great night and a great week everyone!

Put A Lid On It

Hats are my go to accessory when the weather starts to get cooler. Nothing like being fashion forward while masking your bad hair day and keeping your head warm. I can't get enough of them! I recently bought this adorable Daisy Cloche from Brooklyn Industries and made a point to wear it this past weekend. The cold and wind were awful, but the hat kept me looking perfectly put together.

Here are some more styles I have my eye on...

Stitch Banded Hat available at Free People- $58

Zaffre Fedora available at Anthropologie- $48

Bailey® for J.Crew Felt Hat available at J.Crew- $98

Grosgrain Panama Hat available at Urban Outfitters- $39

My oh my...it's been too long! So much has been going on lately. I feel like I've been going in circles. I'm still getting over being sick (this cough is just lingering), and we have been apartment hunting in our free time. Well, it seems like today I can take a deep breath and relax because we got approved for the apartment we wanted in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Our lease starts in December, and I'm so excited! The best part is that we will finally have a view. All the years I have lived in Manhattan we have always just had a "true New York City View"...i.e. a brick wall. In the new apartment we have a view of the Williamsburg Bridge, lower Manhattan, and an iconic Brooklyn water tower. *sigh* I can't wait to share photos with you all.

Sleeping Off The Sickness

Saturday morning I woke up with a scratchy throat and swollen glands. By Saturday evening I had the sniffles. Sunday I spent most of the afternoon in bed still feeling quite awful. So I thought that by today (Monday) I'd be feeling better for work. It's just a head cold after all. Boy was I wrong. I got to work and lasted there for about three hours until I realized that I couldn't handle it anymore. I came home, cuddled up with my pup, and went to sleep.

For the last few days I have been living in my pajamas...and realizing that I really need some new ones. Here are some of my current favorites that would even make having the flu feel slightly better.

Retro Polka Dot PJ Set available at Forever 21- $24.80

Pure Body Robe available at Gap- $64.95

Gilligan & O'Malley Women's Knit Sleepshirt available at Target- $17.99 $14.39

Telling Bedtime Tails Pajamas by Bedhead available at ModCloth- $103.99

I'm still not feeling all that great. My husband did get home a little early to make me some chicken soup from scratch though (yay!). Here's to hoping it makes me feel better...or at least good enough to get through work tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Something Old, Something New

Do you have that one item in your closet that you cannot live without? For me it is this BDG cardigan that I picked up at Urban Outfitters a few years ago. I wear it all the time. You have seen it on this blog plenty of times. I wear it so much that it is even starting to get holes on it (which makes me so sad!). I love it because it is rather light, comfy, and black. Perfection in my mind!

top- H&M
sweater- BDG

Don't be fooled by the fact that I'm wearing a cardigan and jeans...it has been so warm here in NYC today all week. I hate this weather. It's in the upper 70s/low 80s! I personally love fall. It's my absolute favorite season. Makes me so sad that we'll probably have a few good weeks where it is in the 50s/60s before it gets freezing cold. UGH!

Oh yeah...and the reason I'm dressed like this is because we had our air conditioner blasting (my husband was hot and I was cold, as usual!).

What is your favorite item in your closet? What do you wear way too often and just can't live without???
