Step By Step- The Perfect Red Lip

What I really wanted to do today was an outfit post outdoors in my neighboorhood. But with the "feels like temperture" in the negatives and a massive fire two blocks from my apartment, that was not going to happen. So I thought I'd spend some time indoors and create a little tutorial on how to get the perfect red lip.

I have my lip routine down to a science. Since I wear lipstick (mostly red) almost every single day, I know what works and what doesn't. One of the biggest things I have learned over the years is how to keep my lips looking healthy and not dried out. In my opinion, nothing looks worse that dried, chapped lips that are covered in bold color. It just doesn't work. Here's how I keep my pout healthy and beautiful...

Step #1- Brush your lips lightly with your toothbrush every morning. You will be so surprised how this really does freshen your pout!

Step #2- Use a lip cleanser. I prefer Bliss's Fabulips Foaming Lip Cleanser. I love the effervescent cleansing action! And...it smells fantastic! Seeing this photo reminds me that I need to go get more soon...almost empty...

Step #3- Pick a great shade of red. I must have about 6 or 7 shades of red in my makeup bag, all slightly different. So even though I may wear red lips almost every day I don't get bored with the color. One of my most favorite shades is Sephora's Cream Lip Stain in Always Red. It goes on so beautifully and stays on all day long.

Step #4- After you remove your lip color moisturize your lips with petroleum jelly. This step really does help keep your lips from drying out. I make this my nightly ritual.

Follow these tips and I promise you beautiful and healthy lips!

Auburn Is The New Black

I'm always up for a change. I started to feel like I was in a rut with my hair over the last few weeks and knew that I had to do something. Not wanting to cut it, I decided to change up my color!

On Saturday I went to my favorite hair salon to switch up my look. After coming across some amazing auburn looks on Pinterest (and obsessing over Lily Collins hair) I decided that adding some auburn highlights to my hair and making a richer brown was the way to go...and I love it!!! I'm all about subtle changes.

What are your thoughts on my new auburn look?

She & Him

So today is a big day. My husband (Chris) is making his first official appearance in an outfit post. He's been seen on the blog here and there over the years, and is all over my instagram feed. Typically he's behind the scenes taking my photos...but I thought it would be fun to bring him into the mix of Snapshot Fashion's style posts.

shirt: Brooklyn Industries (similar)/jeans: Levi's/leather jacket: Levi's/boots: Dr. Martens

I think this is my new favorite dress. It's so light and comfy...and isn't the print just lovely?!

One thing the two of us agree on is that we love Brooklyn Industries. Even though about 1/4 of my wardrobe is probably from that store, I think it would be safe to say the same for my husband.

If you are loving these looks be sure to stop by Brooklyn Industries today where they are having a mega sale. They are taking an extra 40% off of sale styles and 25% off of full price graphic tees and bags. The sale is online and in the store...but it ends today, so don't wait!

So everyone please give Chris a warm welcome...as I'm sure you'll be seeing much more of him on Snapshot Fashion in the future.

72nd Golden Globes Awards- What I Hope They Wear

The Golden Globes are on tomorrow...andI can't wait. You all know my favorite thing about awards shows is the fashion. I mean isn't that what everyone tunes in for anyway? I have no idea who will win as most of the shows nominated I don't watch, and I have only seen a couple of the movies...so I'll stick with judging what celebrities wear while walking down the red carpet.

I always put together a list of what I hope they will wear...so here goes:

Jennifer Aniston in Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2015

Keira Knightley in Valentino Spring 2015 RTW

Emma Stone in Zac Posen Pre-Fall 2015

Lupita Nyong'o in Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2015

Will you be watching???

Morning Glory

dress: Glamorous/tights: Gipsy/necklace: BaubleBar/faux fur coat: H&M/booties: Silence + Noise

Even though I live in a busy neighborhood, I love that it's pretty dead to the world before noon. Walking around Williamsburg in the mornings makes me feel like it's all mine...even if for a moment few hours. I just love that. This weekend is going to be extra rainy and disgusting...so I gotta make the most of it while I can.

Once the rain starts I think my weekend is going to consist of finishing up The Andy Cohen Diaries (which I got for Christmas and am obsessed with), hanging out with my husband & pup, eating homemade fried chicken, and watching some movies. Sounds like a great weekend to me!

Happy Saturday to you!

Resolutions for 2015

Another year over. Can you believe it is 2015?! Where did 2014 go?

Every year I try to make resolutions, and like many of you they don't end up sticking. Maybe if I call them guidelines or lifestyle changes I'll have a better chance of following them through.

My 2015 resolutions guidelines lifestyle changes are as follows:

1) Keep up with Snapshot Fashion more. After six and a half years since I started this blog I have found myself getting writer's block and bored with stale material. I'm thinking 2015 calls for more personal style posts (which I always dread doing...but everyone seems to love them). Any and all ideas for future posts are always appreciated!

2) No more nail biting! I have done this since I was a kid...and it's so gross. I look at my fingers and cringe in embarrassment. Every year I make this a resolution, and every year I keep on biting away. But this madness has to stop. Now.

3) Go to the gym more (and if I lose weight I'll be happy). I typically try going 4-5 times a week...but only end up going maybe once or twice a week. I blame this on me not being a morning person, which is true since I go before work. This means I have to wake up at 5:15am for a morning workout. Ugh! Time to be a big girl and just deal with it.

4) Start traveling more. I need to get a new passport, which is on my to do list. Over the last few years we haven't gone many places...and I don't know what we are waiting for. This year calls for some adventure!!!

5) Become more social. I'm an introvert so this is particularly hard for me. Time for me to get out of my comfort zone, make some new friends, and get together more with the ones I already have.

What are you planning as your lifestyle changes for 2015???
